Alerts and Notifications

Send useful Scout alerts to the right people through email, Slack, or webhooks.

Choose the recipient scope

Account
Receives account-wide daily digests and eligible instant alerts from sites or pages whose mode includes account recipients.
Site
Receives eligible instant alerts from one site when its effective notification mode includes site recipients.
Page
Receives eligible page scan alerts only when that page uses Account + site + page recipients.

Add a clear label to every destination so teammates can understand who or what receives the alert.

Choose a notification mode

Site settings let you turn site alerts off and decide whether to include account recipients. A page that uses site settings follows that choice. Page overrides expose the four effective modes below.

Silent
Do not route scan notifications for this page.
Site recipients only
Use enabled recipients attached to the current site.
Account + site
Use enabled account recipients and enabled site recipients.
Account + site + page
Also include enabled destinations attached directly to this page.

Email, Slack, and webhooks

  • Email sends an actionable Scout message to a person or shared inbox.
  • Slack sends alerts to a selected channel in the workspace connected through System Settings.
  • Webhook sends a structured notification to an HTTPS endpoint you control.

Instant alerts and daily digests

System Settings controls whether Scout sends eligible alerts immediately, includes open alerts in a daily digest, or uses both. The digest includes open alerts seen during the previous 24 hours and is sent once per day at or after 8:00 a.m. in your account timezone.

Daily digests are account-wide and go to enabled account-level destinations. Site and page recipients are used for eligible scoped instant notifications.

Scout does not currently expose per-recipient event or severity filters. New destinations are eligible for all supported events at their scope, including uptime alerts, scan findings, Scan All summaries, and daily digests where applicable. Use destination scope, page notification mode, enabled state, and account timing to control delivery.

Test every destination

After adding or changing a recipient, expand it and choose Test. Confirm delivery before relying on the destination for production alerts.

  • Check spam or quarantine folders for email.
  • Confirm the Scout app can access the selected Slack channel.
  • Confirm webhook endpoints accept HTTPS requests and return a successful response.
